Women’s Dionne from Made For Mermaids

Megan Gorman is one of the dynamic designers behind ‘Made For Mermaids’ and the Women’s Dionne blazer she designed is part of the Clueless Collection. I’m glad I was allowed to sew up this blazer. Let’s take a look…

One of the must-haves in a fall wardrobe basics checklist is… a blazer! A blazer is not only chic and sophisticated, it is incredibly versatile! You can wear it sportive or classy and style it with jeans, a skirt, a dress OR with the patterns from the Clueless Collection.

Een van de must-haves in je herfst garderobe is … een blazer! Een blazer is niet alleen chic en verfijnd, maar ook ongelooflijk veelzijdig! Je kunt hem sportief of stijlvol dragen en hem stylen met een jeans, een rok, een jurk OF met de patronen uit de Clueless-collectie.

 

As you see you can make a mid length sleeve or a long sleeve. At the front the Dionne is longer than at the back. It’s tailored without being tight. The collar is thé eye-catcher and gives it a refined look! 

The pattern is listed as an intermediate pattern because of the instruction of the collar.  The blazer isn’t lined but the collar is. By using the burrito roll method the collar is finished so neat!

Zoals je ziet kan je een half lange mouw of lange mouw maken. Aan de voorkant is de Dionne langer dan aan de achterkant. De Dionne is op maat gemaakt zonder strak te zitten. De kraag is dé eye-catcher en geeft de blazer een verfijnde uitstraling!

De moeilijkheidsgraad is ‘intermediate’ vanwege de instructie van de kraag. De blazer is niet gevoerd maar de kraag wel. De burrito-rolmethode zorgt ervoor dat de kraag zo mooi afgewerkt is!

 

Sizing and fitting:

The pattern is designed for a height of 5’5” but if you are over or under 5’5” you’ll find a way to adjust it in the instructions. The same for mashing sizes.

At Made For Mermaids sizing is named by colors. When your full bust is 30-31″ your size is ‘Grey’ and the sizing chart stops with full bust 49-51″ ‘Red’. My Dionnes are made with color ‘Indigo’.

Maten en pasvorm:

Het patroon is ontworpen voor een lengte van 5’5 ” of 1m65, maar als je groter of kleiner bent,  vind je in de instructies hoe je dit best aanpast.

Bij Made For Mermaids worden de maten door kleuren vervangen. Wanneer je volledige buste (full bust) tussen de 76-79 cm is, is je maat ‘Grijs’ en de maattabel stopt met ‘full bust’ 124,5 cm – 130 cm en dit is dan ‘Rood ‘. Mijn Dionnes zijn gemaakt met kleur ‘Indigo’.

Fabrics:

For my first Dionne I chose a polyester stretch (crepe) in dark blue with white flowers. My second and final one is made in ponte. I used the inside to color block my collar and I really like it! The pattern dictates medium weight knit with structure and at least 30% stretch. Suggested are liverpool, ponte, scuba and techno. These will give the blazer and lapel shape and a nice structure.

Stoffen:

Mijn eerste Dionne maakte ik in een polyester stretch (crepe) in donkerblauw met witte bloemen. Mijn tweede (final) is gemaakt in ponte. Ik gebruikte de binnenkant van het stof om mijn kraag te color blocken en ik vind het resultaat echt heel leuk! Het patroon schrijft middelzware stretch voor met structuur (best stevig ja) en ten minste 30% rek. Voorgesteld zijn liverpool, punta di roma, scuba en techno. Deze geven de blazer en kraag een mooie structuur.
