I chose the same option twice, the collar option because I love it so much! You can also choose the hood option or neither. Both versions were also lined. Basically you then make a coat in outer fabric and the same in inner fabric, you tuck them together with the reverse sides together and then finish the whole thing with bias. Actually, I could have also put the two parts right sides together and then I wouldn’t have had to use bias after turning.
My pink Coda version is a polyester blend with a velvet touch and if you look closely you can see that the fabric is perforated. My lining is a viscose that contrasts nicely with the pink. I created everything on it, the cute pocket flaps and horizontal buttonholes with matching buttons.
Your sewing machine could certainly resist if you want to make buttonholes in your thicker fabric. In that case, be sure to reinforce your button pat extra on the inside.
Of course, that does become difficult if you are using pre-quilted fabric that is finished on two sides. You could also work with snaps or just omit your buttons. That’s fun, too!
Ik koos twee keer voor dezelfde kraag optie omdat ik hem zo mooi vind! Je kan ook voor de kap optie kiezen of geen van beide. Beide versies werden ook gevoerd. In principe maak je dan een jas in buitenstof en dezelfde in binnenstof, je steekt ze in elkaar met de averechtse kanten tegen elkaar en dan werk je het geheel af met bias. Eigenlijk had ik de twee delen ook rechts tegen rechts tegen elkaar kunnen zetten en dan hoefde ik na het keren geen bias meer te gebruiken.
Mijn roze Coda versie is een polyester blend met een fluwelen touch en als je goed kijkt zie je dat de stof geperforeerd is. Mijn voering is een viscose die mooi afsteekt met het roze. Ik maakte er alles op en aan, de leuke zak kleppen en horizontale knoopsgaten met bijpassende knopen.
Het zou zeker kunnen dat je naaimachine tegensputtert als je knoopsgaten wil maken in je dikkere stof. Zorg dan zeker dat je je knopen pat extra verstevigd aan de binnenkant.
Dat wordt natuurlijk wel moeilijk als je pre-quilted stof gebruikt die aan twee kanten is afwerkt. Je zou ook met snaps kunnen werken of je laat gewoon je knopen weg. Dat is ook leuk!
My bluish version is a pre-quilted fabric which has one good side. On the other side is the wattle. So I had to line this Coda as well. I could have chosen a ready-made pre-quilted fabric that was finished on two sides. That would have saved me half the time. But I liked this fabric so much. I could picture it like this. The pink decorative stitching combined with the equally bright pink bias would complete it. So that’s what I did then. I picked out a nice cotton and got to work.
Working with quilted fabrics is not always simple. I worked with a Microtex needle, but you can also use a universal size 80 needle. Since the fabric is synthetic, before sewing you could possibly baste everything first.
Maybe a good tip to use clips because pins leave holes in the fabric.
Mijn blauwige versie is een pre-quilted stofje wat één goede kant heeft. Aan de andere kant zit de wattine. Ik moést deze Coda dus ook voeren. Ik had een kant en klare pre-quilted stof kunnen kiezen die aan twee kanten was afgewerkt. Dat had me de helft van de tijd bespaard. Maar ik vond deze stof zo mooi. Ik zag het al zo voor me. Het roze sierstiksel gecombineerd met het even felle roze bias zou het helemaal af maken. Dus dat deed ik dan maar. Ik zocht een leuk katoentje uit en ging aan de slag.
Werken met gewatteerde stoffen is niet altijd even simpel. Ik werkte met een Microtex naald, maar een universele naald maat 80 kan je ook gebruiken. Omdat de stof van synthetisch materiaal is, zou je voordat je gaat naaien eventueel alles eerst kunnen rijgen.
Misschien een goede tip om clips te gebruiken omdat spelden gaten in de stof achterlaten.
